    Frost & Flame Prelude Discussion

    Hey,

    I thought we could discuss what we like or dislike about the recent patch.

    1) I really like that you can do whichever fractal you like up to the highest person. I've never been in FotM before and now I'm lvl 3 Did lvl 10 first (2 of my guild with lvl 11 were in and 3 of my guild with lvl 1-2) which was surpisingly easy (if you have someone in your group who explains what to do at each boss). I died only twice (once a wipe when we did something wrong and once falling off some climb ) and was downed due to zero agony resi 3-4 times. But overall a nice experience, even though I generally dislike PVE. And afterwards we did lvl 5, which was no problem either (except the fractal with the huge stone statue...we got knocked off by those blowing faces in the wall quite often :P) So I'm grateful for the patch for finally giving me the oportunity to going in any of the lower lvl fractals and try these out.

    2) I like the laurel system. The cost for ascended gear, while quite high (~1,3 (or something like that) ascended items a month if you do both monthly and all dailies), seems reasonable, given you get them for literally nothing (the dailies).

    3) While I like that the daily thing has now changed, I had hoped for something more interesting.

    4) the Story-"event": Haven't got too far with this one, as it felt super boring...walk from spot to spot, hammer some signs in or light a bonfire. And each NPC (granted: I only did three, then bailed out of boredom... ) tells the same line.

    But overall I'm really happy with the patch. What do you guys think?

    FotM change is of course good. Makes it a lot easier to get groups and means you can work on your own while still helping friends that haven't made it as far. The real fix to FotM is being able to do it from different servers/overflow and also being able to rejoin if you dcd or get glitched and have to relog.

    Laurels are ok. I think and I hope that they devolpe more ways to earn them as well as adding in the rest of ascended gear over time.

    Dailys are still a work in progess, the rotation is nifty and they are still working out which to keep and which to ditch and some are glitched so they are still working. They have also said that in the future you will be able to get completion of Daily by doing a % of them so that is something to look forward to at least.

    Haven't done the story event except for just wandering into a dead refugee and turning in the heirloom. Seasonal events / special events don't inerest me much. I usually do a little bit of them, but I don't bother doing all of it.

    Over all they are making progress and continue to do so. One thing I've noticed is that sometimes Vets will drop a chest instead of a bag and the chest has better drops in them so that was cool. (was in WvW when this happened soloing a supply camp, otherwise I don't normally pay attention just quick hit loot and move on)

    Now that I've seen what I have to do for the monthly, I'm a bit frustrated again. Although doing 5 dungeons isn't a lot, for someone like me, who has done 4 dungeons during the whole time the game has been out, it's tedious that I should have to do something I don't particularly enjoy.

    I can see myself doing them begrudgingly over the month; but generally, PVE is boring and having no other option than doing it if I want my ascended gear asap is a design choice I can't agree with. I thought this new system was about getting progress any way you want. Yet, again I have to participate in content I wouldn't normally do, only to get these 10 laurels.

    But I have been expecting this monthly thing to be a let down, since I have only managed to finish the first monthly in the game, because this was the only one that didn't have any seasonal (I don't do seasonal stuff) or dungeon stuff in it.

    I think the patch is great! The fractal level change is probably the best part for me. I've done fractals something like ten times and it has always been level 1 or level 2. With this new system I'll likely do a higher level every time I do it.

    The laurel system I'll probably just ignore. I mean I always do the monthlies and I usually do the dailies, but at this point I'm not sure I'll care about laurels very much.

    I'm glad the dungeon changes are starting to come in. Dungeons are top priority for me. Since launch, (almost) every time I log in I just get a dungeon group and start going. Dungeons are the reason I play the game. That said, there are some issues with dungeons now that I'd like to see fixed and it looks like they will be.

    As for the new sPvP content, I can't say anything because I still haven't tried sPvP.
