He doesn't have to agree with me, I'm not trying to change his mind. I just put my thoughts out there. Which is the point of a FORUM. He can tell me that he disagrees with me, because he obviously has a different opinion. But that's different from repeatedly telling people their opinions are wrong.

This thread was is in no way meant to provoke or instigate anything. It was a comparison between three different RPGs and how in depth they are. And despite that he admittedly agrees with what I'm saying I get this as a first response?
The thing about Vayne is he makes it a goal to point out false or misleading facts for his own reasons. If a post is perfectly factual or positive then he doesn't usually bother with it. This is his main posting style here as of the last few months. I assume after all the "discussions" you've had together you noticed this style.

The point of a forum, at least this one, is to discuss things. Arguing will probably be involved at times, yes, but it needs to be constructive arguing. If you aren't learning anything from another persons arguments and you're both basically just ending up in the "Yes!", "No!" phase, then just call that particular argument quits because it's not going anywhere. There's a big difference in constructive arguments and pointless arguments. If you see an argument going in a circle or heading down the proverbial hill, then just stop arguing.

There's a lot of arguing over semantics in these threads about who said what, in what context, and with what words they used. It's grasping at all sorts of pointless words and sentences to make something more out of it than it really is.

The biggest thing that people always need to remember in a pointless argument, is to just walk away. There's no righteous ideal that needs to be defended on a gaming forum and they aren't going to hunt you down in real life. Always remember that it takes two to argue and if the other person continues to argue with someone who says nothing then they're the one with the problem. You have nothing to prove to the other people and you gain nothing by 'winning' and argument.

What lead to me saying this in the first place is that neither you nor Vayne seem to want to stop the pointless arguing. You just keep going and going until the thread dies through natural causes. You or he says something and the other one quotes him with a retort and the conversation becomes destructive from there. Neither of you refuse to walk away and act as if this is some sort of fight to the death in a code of honor. From how I see it, you're both arguing for the sake of arguing. You don't want to let him 'get away' with whatever it is you think he'll get away with. If it's tiresome for me to read, I imagine it's even more tiresome for both of you to write it. The arguments rarely add anything to think about because you're both too stubborn to listen to each other, lol.

Alas, I guess the arguments are finally over since Vayne left.

    Funny how that works.

The thing is, I just enjoy discussing things and hearing other peoples points of view whether I agree with them or not. After months and months of Vayne telling people how wrong they are, whether it was factual or opinion based, it just got ridiculous. It wasn't even just that he'd do it to me. If it was just me that'd be one thing but it was literally everything.

So sorry, but no, I don't think it's okay to treat people like that. Especially when you're a mod. And I'm not gonna censor my opinions because he was being stubborn. Which in turn makes me stubborn. But still, when you make it your mission to only reply to things you disagree with which obviously will only lead to to arguments. That's just not healthy.

And it doesn't matter how wrong someone is or not, no one likes it when a moderator on a forum tells you you're stupid and then spams you with a giant wall of text detailing why.

I will try to put it another way. Van Halen and Queensryche both write a song. Both are technically proficient and are good compositions. As far as lyrics go, Queensryche are deep and thought provoking whereas VH do their usual shallow happy go lucky lyrics. One isn't better than the other though and the writing of the songs are just as good as each other. Just a different approach. I like em both for what they are. Simple.

    My two cents:
I love Guild Wars 2, it's a well designed game. The writing is terrible though. I just have to overlook it when I play the game. I join the Vigil, get treated like the new guy, but after two quests I'm a great hero? As a norn, I kill a worm in the first two minutes of playing, and forever afterwards I'm "slayer of isormir"!?
