Is This Laptop Good for Guild Wars 2?

Just would like to know how good this laptop would play for Guild Wars 2. My current laptop can't play the game, so I'm thinking about selling it and using the money to get a new one.

I'm afraid that one isn't going to be any better. That one does not have a dedicated graphics card, the Intel GMA HD, is a shared card so even it the game runs it won't run well even on low settings.

To get a laptop that is going to be able to play GW2 or most any other new game you are looking to spend 600 to 1500 (big range there, but I've seen some decent low end gaming laptops for 599 on sale and normal price for a average lvl gaming laptop I would say is 1000-1200, but its very easy to spend more)

My question to you is do you need a laptop?

If the answer is yes have to have one for school/work then either look to shell out for a good gaming one that will last you or save the one you have and get a cheap gaming PC. 500 bucks will get you a fairly decent machine that can run the game ok.

If the answer is no then sell your laptop and get a good desktop.

@Zorac, Actually, I neglected to mention that I do indeed have a desktop. The only thing is is that it's at my Grandma's house, and I only use it when I visit there, which is a rare occasion now. So would you suggest I move my desktop to the house I stayed and switch my laptop to my grandmother's house?

What are the desktop CPU and GPU?

If you can find a laptop that has an AMD A8 or AMD A10 you can get a great price on a gaming capable laptop. Your Intel integrated option is HD Graphics 4000. Is your budget limited to $400 for the laptop? If you can go up to 600 - $700 you will be in better shape. However, a mobile GPU is the best option. (ie, 560m, 7970m...). Integrated graphics will save you $, and dedicated will give better performance.

@skidawgz, Would this be a good option? http://www.amazon.com/Sony-SVE11125C...owViewpoints=1.

Also, is playing the game on a desktop more guaranteed that it will play better than a laptop does?

Edit: Also, for my CPU specifications, I can't tell you that right now since I'm currently at my laptop sadly.

Parts in a desktop are cheaper to upgrade, so it is easier to make an non-gaming setup into one. Your typical desktop can support gaming by adding a power supply and a graphics card ($180 to $300. Then, you also have a setup that is more comfortable to play at.

That laptop you linked is no good. Seems the AMD A10 that i recommended is borderline cutting it. Intel HD Graphics 4000 will play the game on low but results vary with processor speed.

What exactly is your budget? Are you OK with refurbished?

@skidawgz, Well, just got my income tax, so it should help out a lot. I think I can go for around $400-$500 at most.

I would also like to play Guild Wars 2 at least moderately well. I don't want the game to play very slow, but I definitely wouldn't mind if it played great. If there is a middle ground where it plays very well though, I will accept that with $400-$500.

Edit: Either that, or I'll just move my desktop to the house I'm in now, since it sounds like it would be much cheaper just to play the game on a desktop. I will most likely go to my Grandma's house tomorrow, and I'll check the specs there.

    yeah do that....

I found a Dell 15R on this page, it would do the trick, it is $650

The desktop should be the best option, just let me know what the specs are in it when you get a hold of it. No rush.

@skidawgz, Okay thanks, I'll PM you tomorrow about the specs.

Great advice from skidawgz on upgrading your current desktop. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but work pops up and I forget things.

Unless your desktop is ancient that 400-500 budget will go a long way to getting you a good experience in GW2 and plenty of other games.

Good luck have fun and hope to see you in game.
