    Bsod

    Hmm...

Two BSOD's in two days. Never had these before from GW2. Anyone know of anything that got changed? Nothing new from my end.

Had a BSOD about 20 hours ago - first time I've ever had a BSOD on the new system (built about 5 months ago) so I suspect it's not you. I wasn't even playing GW2 at the time but then it may just be a coincidence!

There are a number of issues that can cause the dreaded Blue Screen of Death, my most common encounter with them is a bad sector on the HD or faulty RAM. These two causes tend to appear random as they don't happen until that sector is tried to be used or in the case of RAM you need that memory.

If it happens constantly while playing GW2 then its possible a GW2 file is corrupt, that sector of your HD is partially corrupt, you have a driver conflict or one of your sticks of RAM is bad. You should get an error log after the BSOD and the information it contains should help you track down the true cause.

I remember an old machine I had, a dell (this was like 8 years ago) and it was under full warrenty and dell sent someone out to look at it. They said its the RAM so they replaced it. Problem continued. They said oh its the motherboard, they replaced it. Problem continued. Finally they just gave us a new PC (it was a buisness PC I was working for at the time) and told us we could just keep the old one since they couldn't figure out what was wrong. Well some of the guys got together and worked on it, turns out they were right the first time, it was the RAM, but the RAM they replaced it with was bad too. So we took half the RAM out of the new machine and put it in the old and we had 2 pcs.

Sometimes the problem is obvious, sometimes not so much and sometimes the replacement parts are bad and the IT guy scratches his head and hells WTF!

Hah! A random event. On something where randomness can only be simulated given complex algorithms. Have to love computers!

Joking aside, I know for sure my drivers are old so I'm going to update those first and see what happens. God, I hate updating drivers...

    Be safe!

There were instances of BSOD in GW1 when entering dungeons, believe that issue was isolated to Vista 64 systems... which i happen to run but never had an issue, so it is worth reporting if its happening in game. Otherwise its normally a memory fault issue from your RAM or gfx or a faulty PSU. A defrag could move your game file to a different location, or copy/paste the game files into a new folder then drag them back. Test your RAM by removing a stick at a time to test and of course try another gfx driver. Doing it all at once won't pinpoint, bit of trial and error maybe
