I had a ps2 but then switched to xbox for the current gen as everyone I knew was getting that and I wanted to be able to co-op. Tempted to switch back to ps4 although im not liking the gimmicky add ons, and I prefer the xbox controller.

Game trailers like this always bug me.

It's well done, it's very dramatic and emotional, and there was clearly a lot of effort put into it. But there's nothing about the actual game in the trailer. And that kind of defeats the purpose of a video game trailer. Not even a CGI cut scene from within the game itself.

So unless it's something like Metal Gear Solid 4, which was the greatest movie I've ever watched(seriously lol). I really don't see the point.

YES. It's particularly important for new games to show gameplay in their trailers- I mean, we all know how a God of War game is likely to play, but with new titles I want to get some indication that the gameplay won't be awful or anything. All movie-esque trailers do is show they can make a good short film.

I blame the live action Halo trailer, and all the hype that got, for the trend of live action trailers... that said, this one was quite accurate, and actually happened to me once:

But that wasn't the first Skyrim trailer. That was a launch trailer after we had already seen the game itself.

Don't misunderstand, I have nothing against live action trailers to build up excitement. But we haven't seen anything about the game yet, so I don't understand why they'd bother with them at this point.

Actually, that live action God of War trailer isn't the first trailer for it.

There have been a number of trailers before it, as well as an open beta for PS+ users, and they even just released a demo for it on the PSN... so whats the problem?

    April, 2012: Announcement Trailer

    June, 2012: Single Player Trailer

    August, 2012: Multiplayer Trailer

All those are from last year... that live action trailer didn't hit until earlier this month.

There isn't a problem, just discussing. I know it wasn't the first trailer, that's not really what I was getting at. It just seems pointless.

If you knew that the God of War live action trailer wasn't its first trailer, then why in god's name would you defend Skyrim's live action trailer by saying it wasn't the first one? And furthermore, why then would say that they seem pointless after having pointed out their point and even having said that you had nothing against them? I mean, seriously... if you can't present what you MEAN TO SAY when you specifically say something, and instead choose to back track later in an attempt to say that what you blatantly said isn't actually what you meant, then there's absolutely no use in discussing anything with you at all.

Not to be rude (though I'm sure it'll come off that way), you really just seem like one of those people that absolutely has to be right about everything, especially when they're completely wrong, which causes them to back peddle and trip over their own words... and people like that... well, they're what's wrong with the internet.

Because we haven't seen a single trailer, footage, or news about how this game is different from the others with the exception that it has a multiplayer mode which looks like a gimmick. It was a bad example, and I wasn't clear with my point, and I apologize.

Instead of showing us why we should buy this NEW game that LOOKS exactly the same as the OLD games, they give us a live action trailer that's better fitting to a movie.

Yep. You're exactly right. I'm an idiot and I always think I have to be right because I'm always wrong. Nailed it. Good job. Go get your gold star, you deserve it.
