Cool WoW patch 5.2: Hey guys, lets become Guild Wars.

    http://i.wow.joystiq.com/2013/02/27/...f-mob-sharing/

The upcomming patch to WoW sends a "strong message" to guild wars 2: We've got this greta new idea, now no one tags mobs anymore, instead people who attack it or help in a fight all share in the xp and loot (caveat: if on same faction as the noob who hit it first). Iz 2 b revolution in MMOs. Groundbreaking.

GW2: gee, that sounds familiar... ;-)

Some WoW players are up in arms thinking it will lead to exploits and griefing, like mob train and dump exploits... but not all of them.

Should be interesting to see if this can help the toxic community they have there...

But also interesting to a first case of the big competition copying from GW2. A clear sign this game did something right and its jolted management over there.

Thats pretty funny. What will the do next? Start downleveling players in starter zones

They've always implemented stuff from competitors - they took a lot from warhammer online when that came out even

I think this shared xp and loot thing instead of killstealing will be the standard in every upcoming AAA MMO. ESO also seems to have something similar in place.

It's funny, because Phantasy Star Online 2 did it before GW2. And neither of them started it either. It takes a long time before the big MMO's start to make good changes. Smaller ones do most of the big steps to change first. You just never hear about them because all anyone ever pays attention to are the bad smaller ones that copy pasta every feature from streamlined AAA's.

Well, I, for one, have never heard of Phantasy Star online 2, so I guess you're right. There are a lot of MMOs out there and I guess they'll have some innovations that the big companies will copy. But I think there's nothing bad about it. Better a good copy than a poor invention

One of the reasons WoW is still the big dog is that Blizzard is not afraid to use ideas from other games. They don't have the "not invented here" syndrome that many game companies do, which is greatly to their benefit.

Still a shit game in my opinion though, and probably a few others on this forum. The reason the wow gamers don't like it is cos the vast majority tend to be a selfish lot who would rather watch you die and laugh, then steal your target. LOTRO has this system also. But they're a helpful bunch.
