I think this is just WAY too soon.
AC3 just came out a few months ago, never mind the fact that AC2 was a three game storyline. Bringing AC4 to the forefront so soon makes me fear for the fans of the franchise, as it invokes a thought of annualization, such as we see with games like Call of Duty, which leads to decreased quality over time, and while the exposure may be good in the short run, it can eventually kill a franchise (just look at Guitar Hero).
A game like Assassin's Creed should NEVER be a simple push it out the door title.

.....Never let modern day travesties harm the memory of greatness.
I mean, realistically speaking ever since the first game it's been a really flakey franchise. They basically did the same exact thing with Prince of Persia and most of their other franchises, releasing sequel after sequel just for the sake of releasing a sequel.
I'm more happy that we're going to be getting a Pirate themed game that will probably have solid gameplay, than another Assassin's Creed. I didn't even like III, it was really boring and Ratonh-whatever his name was, was a really dull protagonist.
