    Gamebreaker.tv

Gamebreaker.tv regularly has interesting discussions/podcasts on the topic of Guild Wars 2 (not limited tp the Guildcast podcast), so I decided to create a compilation thread for posting/discussing all the Gamebreaker.tv topics.

    The first couple of posts

    * GAMEBREAKER's First Look At Guild Wars 2 And Esports (2012-03-02)

    and

    * Self-Healing Skills In ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2 (2012-03-05)

And while I'm at it, this is the last Guildcast episode (this time featuring guest host Mike Schaffnit).

[Edit] see here for older Guildcast episodes.

Another one worth watching: GAMEBREAKER'S Nine Reasons Guild Wars 2 Will Rule... I love the enthusiasm of these guys after they've been in the press beta.

This quote from Scott Hawkes in the comments section of that video summarizes it quite well:

...this article is largely about summing up GAMEBREAKER's view of the game from the coverage of Mike B, Gary and others. As you know they are two pretty critical blokes, and even they have difficulty finding criticism so far.

I watched these guys , they did about 8ish episodes of guildcast before they played in the beta event. They all were skeptic towards gw2 even though Rubi was telling them how good the game is...

Its great to see the 180 they have done since playing beta.

I've been watching gamebreaker for ages, particularly This Week in MMOs just to stay in touch. I agree with you. It was particularly heartening to see Mike B rave, considering he was the biggest skeptic of the lot. Gary G, who always claimed to be an explorer at heart and never really liked raiding was always a bit warmer.

One thing that did worry me was how, on This Week in MMOs they picked apart the cut scenes. I said then, and I maintain that the cut scenes work much better when playing the game than they do when watching them as a seperate outside entity. They fit the style of the game really well.

Actually, in his first steps in GW2 video, Gary admits that he was sceptical on those cut scenes, but he admits that they don't bother him nearly as much now that he was actually playing the game.

Very cool...actually I seem to remember him saying that, but I've been watching so much video lately, it didn't register, so I appreciate it. It's a load off my mind. Guys like Gary, who have a following, can really help get the word out.

Guys like me, who don't, can't. lol

The problem with the cut scenes some people have, are two-fold. First, in one of the cut scenes shown, the character not speaking is moving around a lot. It's very distracting, and even I agree that they should tone it down (and I'm a rabid fan boi).

The other complaint is that the cut scene doesn't take place in the world or show what's going on. It's more stylized. I quite like it and think it first perfectly with the game, but for a large playerbase used to the kinds of cut scenes you get in a Bioware game, well, it's a whole different thing.

For example, in one human scene, you've supposedly just regained consciousness, but you're in full armor and standing up...there's no bed. It's done for a reason....a very good reason even, but it's really not what people have grown accustomed too, particularly in Western games.
