Well, we technically already knew about the necromancer being a part of Guild Wars 2 due to gamescom coverage. However, unlike the other profession announcements, we didn't have an official info release.
Now we have one.

- Necromancers will not go into a downed state upon defeat. Instead, the 'Death Shroud' ability will be used. This allows you to continue fighting as the death shroud until you run out of life force, or get a kill. Upon receiving a kill, the Necromancer then goes back into his/her body.
Skill Sets
Wells - Persistent spells which control an entire area around the necromancer. Spells affect targets within their range. 'Well of Blood' is a skill which regenerates allies in the area. Only one well can be active at a time.
Minions - Summons undead minions to attack with. Secondary Spells will come along with the summoning. These secondary spells destroy the minion, but provide a special effect. An example is the 'Summoning Blood Fiend' skill, which is a minion that heals its master while it fights. It then creates a secondary skill 'Taste of Death', which kills the minion but gives the necromancer a massive boost in health.
Marks - These are ground target spells, with a variety of effects. Marks trigger after a period of time, but can also be triggered by using the skill again. 'Mark of Blood' is a mark which damages enemies and regenerates nearby allies.
Fear - This condition is only usable by Necromancers. It's a removable condition that makes enemies directly flee form the necromancer. 'Doom' is a skill from this stable, and affects one enemy.

Weapons
Main Hand: Axe, Dagger, Scepter
Off Hand: Dagger, Focus, Warhorn
Two Handed: Staff
Life Force - This special type of energy is used only by the necromancer. Upon reaching a certain life force threshold, the necromancer can activate 'Death Shroud'. This skill turns the necromancer into a spirit form. Each weapon used by the necromancer have skills which give them life force, and gains life force by kills nearby. There are also utility skills which build up life force, one of these being 'Ghost Armor' - skill which provides armor bonus, while helping to gain life force.
Pet Evolution - Death Shroud turns the necromancer's life force into the health bar. In the spectral form, necromancers have abilities ranging from summons to other types. Death Shroud makes necromancers one of the more durable professions in the game.

EDIT: Wow. I'm not typically super interested in the archetype but I'm floored. And that necro helm (bone minion spell vid) that covers the eyes is![]()

i never really cared for Necros but i might make a Alt of this just to test it out, the Spells look really Cool and it might be fun to try (:
