I was just about the pre-purchase GW2 when my friend told me that NCsoft games inplements region locking. I am currently residing in SEA and will be moving to europe in the future, will i be forced to buy 2 copies of the game?

See the thread on region locking here. You'll still be able to play on the same server, but your info/customer service would still be routing you through your original area rather than Europe.

Hi planarangel, welcome to this forum.
Actually, I fear I have to contradict Ruse on this: if you are in Europe, you will automatically log in to the European datacenter (there are two datacenters: one for Europe, one for the rest of the world, located in North America). The European datacenter will not accept logins from account codes that were not sold in Europe. So you may indeed run into problems if you buy the game in SEA and then want to play it in Europe. However, ArenaNet are still working on a solution for people who travel, so we have no way of knowing how this will end...
(Ruse is right about the servers though: it doesn't matter what datacenter you're on, you'll be able to play on any server worldwide)

Ah, apologies. I just assumed that meant your ping would be bad, not that you couldn't log in.

I really hope things will go OK for me and my son - as I live in Europe and the only way to get the GW2 CE (In English) in my out of the way place was to buy from a USA online seller (2 copies of game)

Hi Magician, welcome to this forum. Given what ArenaNet have told us so far, I can't be very positive about that. You may want to contact ArenaNet support with that query and explain the details. Maybe they can come up with a solution for you... better to know beforehand, than to find out as soon as the region locking kicks in (don't know if that's during the betas or at release)
Thanks for the feedback Centaur - I contacted Support and will see what they say. I was able to register my GW2 account with the Beta and Early Access code the USA online seller sent me. I could even link it to my GW1 account.
Yeah, registration shouldn't be a problem... but once region locking is active, logging into the game may...
