would be nice if i could downlaod it at least a day or so before it starts so i dotn have to wait for liek 30 mins 1 hour hehe?

anyone been in the beta tests before that know this ?
Lol, if the installer is 25 GB, that would take me 5x 24 hour of nonstop download until it's completed. If they sent out the client installer the day before the beta event, that means I will finished the download by Tuesday the next week. And the beta event will be over by then and I missed the April one. Also, if they ship out another client on the May's beta event the same way and I need to redownload and reinstall the client again on the same phase, then basically. I will never participate in any beta events until the release date. *sigh*

But let me get this straight, if I purchase the digital deluxe straight from buy.guildwars2.com, and I got the serial directly and registered my account afterwards, will I still need to wait for a beta key, or is that already included?

They'll send you the download client just prior to the beta weekend.
I was also hoping to get the client installed long beforehand but I believe they will give us enough time to do so before things start going down.

Should be able to just patch it after each event. They're not going to completely change every file, especially not the big ones like art and sound.

I can second this. Anet has always been great about efficiently patching things. Their patching technology is second to none. During the original Guild Wars 1, you could count on 1 hand the number of times in seven years that the game was down for maintenance.

Your registration code that you receive with the digital download, is your beta key, headstart key and release key in one. So you don't need to wait for a beta key... you just need to wait until ArenaNet have finished the new client and put it up for download.

Woah, you're on a 56k connection? You probably should have bought a physical copy if your connection is that bad...

Lol no, I'm on a 1 Mbps and believe me this is the best value for money at $50 a month. With the highest available bandwidth speed is 20 Mbps at $250 a month. But my area of residence wasn't covered. I can download at 100 kBps with download manager at maximum acceleration. It took me 2x 24 hours to download Runes of Magic client installer that's only 6 GB.

Physical box edition is not an option as I'm sure ANet wouldn't put Indonesia in their list of distribution retails. Not many people here knows about Guild Wars 1, let alone 2. Unless you're a PS3 gamer, most of people here never really "buy" games. Most PC users just download through torrents and the likes or buying pirated DVDs for $5 fixed price for all games. Sometimes just $1.50 if it's distributed through CD instead of DVDs (X360 games included at this price). I'm sure ANet would actually make a loss by distributing their games here since most people prefers F2P MMORPGs where they don't have to spend a dime. So it's obvious that they will not spend $50 on a game. Not to mention, shipping costs, customs and duty, import taxes and regulations, etc. The nearest country that can ship the DVD is Australia, and I'm sure they have a lot of people purchasing the copies there that they just have none left to be shipped overseas. Besides, I'm more interested in the extra items and skills I can get through "Deluxe Edition" which doesn't ship as a physical box. The only ones that are available is the Collector's Edition and that costs me a a fortune as well as the limited number of them available. I don't think the retailers would be willing to ship overseas where there are a lot of people ordering them in their own country.

Shipping the physical box to my country would take weeks and if they ship it at the same time the digital client is released. I'm pretty damn sure downloading for 5 days is still a lot faster than the shipping the physical box (Which will guarantee me that I'll miss the first beta event) So, I'll stick to the Digital Deluxe Edition thanks. I just wish ArenaNet would understand the need of potential players that has limited bandwidth. Not to distribute a smaller installer, but to distribute them early so that I can get it installed right on time just before the Beta Weekend starts.

Eeesh, that's rough, Arthur. Here's hoping at least for retail we get the download at least a week early or so, since I'm sure the DL will be slammed.
