Player Outside NA and Europe

Hi guys, what's up? I just registered here, with the full intent of asking a question.... when I suddenly realized I don't know which sub-forum/thread I should post it at. So I guess I'll just ask here, or at least wait until someone point me the right place to ask.

I am going to play from Japan, but I don't know If the ping would be good enough to avoid delays. Does the game even playable in Japan? If anyone would kindly answer, or point to someone/place who can answer...

Anyway, yeah. I kind of gambled when I bought the game. I don't even know If I could play this here. Oh well. Anyway, I'll be one of those guys who play outside NA and Europe, nice to meet you guys!

Hey warlord, welcome to the forums...might as well introduce yourself anyway...then you're in the right place and you can ask the question anyway. lol...what type of games have you played? How did you learn about Guild Wars 2. Inquiring minds want to know.

I'm sure you can play from Japan... not sure how structured PVP will be but I'm sure you can enjoy the rest of the game...PVE and WvW for example.

Anyway at this point, no one really knows...but I suspect you'll be able to enjoy most of the games content.

Haha, but that IS my usual introduction. Telling people the main reason I register while asking questions if I have them. But fair enough, I'll answer what you asked. I played a few f2ps and a WoW private server a few years back, but lately I just play non-MMOs, console or otherwise. I heard this game from my friend... 3 years ago I think? Been hoping to get my hand on it since then.

I really hope I could play everything smoothly here, I've been waiting for this for a long time. I'd really hate to be defeated by lag...

Hi masterwarlord, welcome to this forum. In terms of region locking, yes, Japan is definitely supported... it falls under the NA region, so you'd be connecting to the NA datacenter to log in. So this should work as long as you didn't buy your copy of the game in Europe. The European version won't work on the NA datacenter, but everything else should work just fine (assuming ofcourse that you have a fairly good internet connection from there).

In terms of speed, yes I got quite a good one, but for ping I'm not so sure...

It's difficult to try to play here. The nearest data center is thousands of kilometers away, and the timezone ensures that the number of players stays low when I log in.

We've been playing regularly from Japan during the beta weekends, and there's no problem in terms of lag or whatever that everyone else isn't getting as well, so don't worry!
