It sounds like they were going to make swapping servers pretty simple so I too hope there is some lockout for WvWvW after switching or perhaps you can switch and play but then are locked out from switching back right away. There will always be people creating toons on other servers regardless to act as double agents and gain recon on server movements. But that's a thought for another thread.

I too would like to clarify that I've never had a problem with WoW as a game nor the good people who played the game. The type of player that most games in general create these days are what frustrate me, it's just easy to single out WoW because it's the largest and has been for some time. I would like to see people drop all previous MMORPG habits when starting on GW2 because it is not going to be like all other MMORPGs. To me, my problem is not that a game made someone a spiteful, irrational, angry, trolling type player. My problem is that they are that type of player now and that's what I would like to avoid.

It would be arrogant and selfish to assume that someone else should change and that I can sit back and wiat for them to while I do nothing myself. What I plan on doing is helping people out no matter what game, or lack thereof, they are coming to GW2 from. WoW, Rift, SWTOR, EVE, Hello Kitty Online, Modern Warfare 3, Gran Turismo 5, Checkers, Chutes and Ladders etc. If they're in the game, they are now part of my community and I will treat them as I would hope to be treated in return. I can never hope that my community gets better without actively trying to make it better myself.

How to convert a WoW player to GW2.

Step 1: show them the GW2 web site.

Step 2: show them the trailer.

Step 3: tell them there are no subscription fees.

Step 4: take cover from impending nerdgasm.

Having reviewed some of the posts here, I have to admit, there are a number of WoW players that you wouldn't want to have around a new MMO. But to be frank, I don't think the bad player types are limited to WoW. I've seen them in FPS multiplayers too. For example, you have "The Leader." We all know this type: when you're going through a dungeon or on a raid or whatever, they're the ones barking orders at you. They're the ones telling everybody what to do. Now sometimes a group needs a leader to help them coordinate. But a BAD leader throws a tantrum every time someone does something they didn't explicitly tell them to do. If someone gets killed, that leader will actually gripe about how much of an inconvenience they are for letting themselves die and how incompetent they must be to have died. They cuss out anyone who doesn't follow their orders to the letter and have no tolerance for mistakes or accidents. You see this not just in MMOs, but also FPS's like TF2 and Killing Floor, with someone browbeating every other player on how to play their classes.

Then there's the cousin to The Leader, "The Loner." This is the person that always goes it alone, even when he's in a group. Everyone has to know how to operate independently, sure, but these people just don't give a damn about their own team mates. In a dungeon they'll run off ahead and leave everyone else trying to catch up. If someone needs help, they'll ignore them to loot corpses or fight the next bad guy. As far as the loner's concerned, a team mate's only purpose is to be a decoy while they take and/or do whatever they want for themselves. Again, while you see 'em in MMOs, you can also see 'em in FPS. These ones are usually the players who play a class like a healer or another kind of support solely for the benefits to themselves, like armor or improved self-healing or whatever. If they're playing another kind of class, they'll never consciously back up someone else. If they ever give another player cover, it will be pure coincidence.

Those are just a couple of examples. But the point is, while you see undesirable player behavior in MMOs, it's not reserved only to MMOs. So in the end, I think anyone who wants to play GW2 should be allowed, but they should behave themselves once they're in.

I'm cancelling my WoW account as of today, I had the love hate relationship with WoW for so many years now, and I realized that I hate the whole leveling up/ getting the best gear otherwise you are a loser . I played Guild Wars when it first came out and I loved it. Now after reading about GW2 and the whole dynamic events engine... I am hooked!
