Thread: GW Character Concepts

  1. #71
Finally got time to sit down with this.

The big "red flag" I see is that she can tell a person's personality just by observing them and seems to automatically know when they're lying. That seems to approach "god mode" to me. People often present themselves a certain way (their demeanor) though they may actually be quite different. IE, a very brutal person may affect a very cultured manner, for example. In theory they would eventually slip up, but immediately pegging someone as a liar/fraud seems a bit over-the-top to me.

I like that she needs a task to focus on or else creates chaos out of boredom. I wonder if you'll be able to roleplay all her mental issues successfully...it seems that with that many, it could be a challenge to make her feel like a cohesive person. I get that she's manic and by nature will be mercurial...I'm just trying to think of possible pitfalls. I'm also not sure why anyone would willingly work with/associate with her, lol, since she seems both unstable AND cruel.

Actually, I'm kind of a grammar nazi but you do exceptionally well on that front. Thanks for posting! And do hope my critique comes across as positive. I do mean to be helpful.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback, I'll reword her description so that it doesn't seem so god mode. That was totally not my intention, she is supposed to be good at reading people, not automatically know if they are lying, but I agree with your assessment that it does look like godmode.

She is unstable, but she is also very good at hidding it. As I said, she is not borderline crazy, she is a manipulator and loves playing with people's minds and she is intelligent. I have the exact idea of how to roleplay her, think Harley Quinn demeanor, mixed with Sherlock Holmes from BBC (but less overpowered than he is of course, no god mode ). So I can totally see how she can be useful, in a group like Whispers of Chaos she found her place. And she is cruel but she is not clueless, she won't be openly sadistic, she is, after all a master of deception and always finds a way to indulge her pleasures without other people bothering her.

Thanks for the feedback, I'm still working on it and this is very helpful, I'll revise the description as soon as I have the time.

    Elipsus
Born from the cycle of noon Elipsus is an adventurer by nature he loves to explore and experience the world. While he try's to combat the Elder Dragon's influence which seems to bathe the world in shadow and oppression.

He is close to nature more so than most of his race. He can call the animal's of the wild to provide support when it is necessary. He also has the ability to see and commune with the spirits of nature themselves and can ask them to provide help to those that are in need of it.

This knowledge of the natural world around him has made him an amazing tracker and a master huntsman. His camouflage skills leave even the most keen eyed observer disbelieving there own eyes.

He has been trained in the art of combat with many wepons Niamh her self has commented that his skill with a bow is
    amazing.

Elipsus's temperament is akin to that of the rest of those born in the cycle of noon he loves the thrill of the case and the rush of battle. When battle is joined he is always thinking on the goal and how he can best help to achieve it.

He does not care whether people choose to recognise the input he has preferring to reflect on the battle and learn from any mistakes made, he often says "victory is its own reward and with the knowledge gained it becomes move likely to reoccur".

Like most of his race he is honest and quick to trust, he has an unswerving loyalty to those fit to have it. He is well received by the people of the other races for his ability with a weapon and as a talented scout.

He dislikes arrogance above all other traits in an individual he has being quoted saying "pride is fine, but can you back it up?".

Thread seems kind of inactive, but ever since I found it a few days ago, it made me think of actually making character back stories for a game for once. Might be cool.

Currently I have 3 character ideas. I really want to play a charr, but havent thought of a good story yet nor do i know which class to play.

    Rogan Black-Fang

    Human Ranger, Monster Slayer.
"There are two types of monsters in this world, the beasts of the earth and the beings that make ill choices, I hunt both and defend the natural world."

Rogan never knew his parents, dropped in an orphanage at an early age. But raised by a wealthy family of high standing. It is for this reason that he speaks with such good English skills. Yet as an adult Rogan has turned his back on a life of wealth, and now lives in the wilderness. He works as a monster slayer and part assassin if he believes the target is truly a 'monster' and or threatens the natural world.

He never goes anywhere without his faithful bear companion.

    Tobi.

    Asuran Necromancer, Mage.

Tobi always wanted to be a mage, he studied hard, and dreamed of becoming a famed elementalist, he wanted to help people and to protect other Asura, however, as he studied he could never quite keep up with the other would-be-elementalists. But it was in this studies that he discovered a natural talent, and affinity for the dark art of necromancy.

Today Tobi is a powerful necromancer, although he does often hide his dark abilities and use more unsispicious abilities that could just pass him off as a mage. Unless he trusts those around him and understands they will not judge him for practicing the dark arts.

Tobi has become quite a cruel person, he believes that delving into such dark arts is merely a means to a positive ending. Deep inside, or atleast originally he truly meant well, but the way he goes about doing things may make him appear evil to others.

    Violet

Sylvari Elementalist or Guardian, Wannabe Princess.

Violet, despite appearing fully grown, was only birthed by the big tree 10 years ago. She has spent all of her life still in its safety. Throughout her years she has heard tales of galliant knights and beautiful princesses in far off lands. She dreams of becoming both. She tries to always buy the most glamorous of clothes from wandering merchants, and learn all she can about the outside world. Because of her young and juvenille outlook, she sees the world as a fairy tale as opposed to the reality that it is. She has no problem with killing, as the people she kills are the bad guys. And the good knight always kills the bad guys in the stories right? So her reality is more of a game to her and she strives to become a glamorous and beautiful, yet galliant and strong princess.

    Thanks

When I do things like this I tend to become more attached to the character. The more personality and rich history they have, the more likely they will reappear in another game.

As The Wolf once said in Pulp Fiction: "Just because you are a character, doesn't mean you have character."

    Great post!

    [B]bubble gum

asurian thief, born in the sewers, eats rats ( just for fun ).
will pick your pocket and blame someone else.
hides in the shadows, fore he is extremely ugly and smells like rotten cabbage.
hobbies include: picking his nose and flicking it at people, tripping people up and getting drunk.
his goal in life is to be a great warrior and help his race conquer the whole world. ( but he just cant be bothered).

Ever since I saw a hairstyle in the human male section in a beta video that looks just like my hair in real life, I wanted to make myself as a real life character using my real life name in game. Then I could RP that I love Guild Wars 2 so much that I'm actually transported from the real world into Tyria and thus I can play myself in Guild Wars 2. And yes, I'm really going to do this at least once. lol

I tried making "me" in an RPG once and found myself horribly bored by the experience, lol.
