I've been putting this off for awhile, waiting for the opportune moment to announce the news. Considering we're getting more beta details for the upcoming few months, I thought now is as good a time as any...
There will be an official Guild Wars 2 Forum Guild. Built by the forum members, and made for the forum members. Unlike other guilds who are looking for exclusivity, the GWars2Forum guild will be the exact opposite of that. We want to be the ultimate supplement guild!
There will be no hardcore requirements, and members of any age, sex, race (GW2 races that is, but just know the founder hates Charr), pie lovers (cake's better), and even WoW converts can join.
The objective of the guild is to help build and expand the GWars2Forum community, therefore we will ally with any guilds who are active on the site.
Our first bit of important business is to - Name the guild.
Submit your ideas for the guild's name in a post below. You can submit as many names as you'd like, then the GWars2Forum admin team will create a poll from the best ones we can find.
If you'd be interested in joining the guild, then simply post here and leave a message about why you can't wait for Guild Wars 2. You can also leave the name you have planned for your character, but this step isn't required (until the game comes out of course).
Damn... I didn't really intend to be a member of more than one guild in GW2, least of all before launch, but you make it really hard to resist... As for a name, how about something like Forumites United?
I swear I must be psychic or something because I was just thinking about this idea yesterday. It was more about how ANet has not made an official GW2 forum, and that made me wonder that once everyone finds a guild with their own website/forum will there be any more interactions on independent forums such as these? I would certainly hope so.
Long story short, I think a guild for this forum would be awesome. I like this place and it's people. Out of all the GW2 forums I visit I find this one to be the most comfortable.
However, I can't think of a name. My imagination is not working at the moment.
The first guild I was ever part of had one of the best names, and one of the best ideologies behind it. It was called Rise of Honor, and the people in it were good folks who loved gaming, respected eachother, respected people outside the guild and all in all were good people. If it were still around today I imagine it would fit into GW2 perfectly as we constantly were helping guildmates but also anyone we came across, sure we were terrible at organized raiding every friday night at 5pm, but there's no organized raiding in GW2 so that's a bonus.
I think I'll be re-starting that guild regardless if I feel up to the task once GW2 arrives but this forum is filled with tons of good people who I think could make it work if they took the idea and ran with it.
