Thread: Hall of Monuments Journey

I'm only 1 point ahead of you, but I still need the Vabbian Armor (almost there) and the Obsidian armor (still far away), the Tormented Weapon and also that Zaishen title (over halfway there). Titles (and GWAMM) isn't a big issue... with just 6 more places to vanquish, with sweet tooth and survivor coming up (I'm just collecting storybooks for that one), I'll have GWAMM and I'll have 40 Statues for Resilience.

So getting to 45 is easy. And I'm not even sure if I'll go all the way to 50 points... I kind of like the sound of "Legend of the Mists" (as opposed to "Champion of the Gods"). So maybe I'll just skip the Obsidian armor and the Tormented weapon... and spend the time to get my wife's account to 30 instead (she's currently at 20).

Between coins I've earned from doing the vanquishes and money I have, I'm about halfway to Zaishen myself (assuming I buy keys at 5k a pop). So still...quite a way to go, lol.

I need to start doing the daily Ascalon missions again to finish out Defender of Ascalon >.>; I've been very bad about that lately, but seems like taking an hour or so out to do a vanquish is about all the time I can spare right now. I wish I only had six more places to vanquish/map, LOL. Not even close on that.

That's really sweet do work on your wife's account. I'm not that selfless. Though I did organize a Sorrow's Furnace run partly to help my guy get his moa chick minipet...but he didn't have all the prereqs done by the time it happened. :B Whoops.

My wife isn't really one for grinding towards any title. She's been through the story of each campaign, and she likes to do team missions just for the fun of it, but other than that, she spends most of her time in the outposts chatting and having fun. Everything else she leaves up to me

I have a fairly limited capacity for grinding. I remember I took one bonus weekend and ground out Sunspear points, and pretty much said "never again." I really like the setup of the ZVanquish (and Zmissions/bounties when I still needed those). It gives me a single thing to do every day, increases the chances I'll find a group to do it (if i need one) and rewards me extra. It's pretty genius, imo, because I don't get burned out that way (or overwhelmed).

And titles like the EotN reputation ones sort of just take care of themselves while doing the rest. It's pretty nice

With my limited time per day, I've been grinding the daily Zaishen missions for several months (approx. 1 hour a day), and yesterday I finally turned in 17 full HM storybooks (3-4 of each time). That gave an enormous boost to various title tracks (kurzick/luxon/norn/asura/etc), a big stack of platinum and enough xp to boost me to straight from 0 to Legendary Survivor (my ranger never did learn to be careful enough to stay alive for as long as it would take to get that title the normal way). So with that, I'm now at 45/50, which was my goal, as I actually like the sound of the "Legend of the Mists" title better than "Champion of the Gods". Now all that's left for me to do is fill up the Sweet Tooth title to also earn GWAMM.

Meanwhile my wife's account is at 25/50, and with a little luck it should be at 30 by the end of the month.

I just started on EotN, more so I can start turning in things for HoM than anything else. I do have to ask if there is any advice when it comes to the heroes (most useful PvE builds and what not). I dread working on armor but I guess it can't be avoided.

Have a look at the hero builds here.

I did my journey as a ranger/ritualist (sometimes using a barrage ranger build, sometimes using a Signet of Spirits ritualist build, sometimes other builds), most of the time with 3 necros, 2 mesmers and 2 ritualists. So I highly recommend to try to get at least the 3 necros, 1 mesmer and 1 ritualist as soon as possible. 1 Mesmer should be easy (Gwen in Eye of the North), 1 Ritualist shouldn't be too difficult either (Xandra in the Norn Fighting Tournament from Magni the Bison in Gunnar's Hold). As for the Necros... Livia can be unlocked during the Asuran branch of the Eye of the North storyline. Olias can be unlocked in a side quest fairly 'early' on in Nightfall, Master of Whispers a little lateron in Nightfall. Getting the (elite) skills necessary for the builds will usually require a bit more work, though. See wiki.guildwars.com for info about the individual heroes or skills.

I reeeeeally wish I hadn't stopped doing this back in September. :< Starting it up again but still such a long way to go =/ I got Flameseeker which is what I wanted for Ruse...but I do plan on a guardian alt and Champion of the Gods would be so perfect for her >_O

EDIT: Forget your wife's account. Help me finish mine.

you're already at 41, which means you're way ahead of her... what do you have to worry about? And I'm definitely not going to help you get that obsidian armor... I don't even have that!
