Thread: Pax Praesidium-A division of Pax Gaming

So as a treat for all you fols, I'm going to post our guilds' backstory, I know it's linked in the post but I'm pretty proud of it. ;D

    The Praesidium Chronicles
This Record is kept and Maintained by Naxek Lucis of The Durmand Priory

Pax Praesidium; a guild of Mercenaries and Stalwart Defenders. This record stands for those that weren't there in the beginning, to be made aware of the challenges we faced and the bonds that were forged. This is our history.

Before our guild was a Guild, before it was even an idea, there were two individuals. This story begins with them. Kythas Wraithborne, an impoverished human Engineer of Orrian descent from Divinity's Reach who used his talents to eek out a living for his wife and son; and Naxek Lucis, a proud Asuran Guardian, fed up with the complacency of his own kind and out to prove himself to them. Strangers to each other, at the time, but both on a mission to defeat a host of Destroyers marching on Rata Sum, home of the Asura. Kythas Wraithborne and Naxek Lucis, with no knowledge of each other and completely seperate motivations set out, never expecting that everything in their lives would soon be changed.

Naxek came to the Destroyers first. With Krewe in tow and inflated ego he took to battle and for a short time fared well, a short time was all he had though, for within minutes the few destroyers he was contesting with multiplied as Scouting parties zeroed in on the battle. In haste Naxek called for the retreat of his Krewe, but it was too late; The Destroyers vanquished his fellows with relative ease. If not for the timely intervention of the alchemist Kythas Wraithborne he'd have suffered the same fate. Together the two held off the Destroyers en masse but it seemed as if their numbers were never ending.

It didn't take long for them to give up the fight and they put all their effort into the retreat: warding spells, freeze traps, anything to give them an edge. But the two were injured and the Destroyers were closing. Herein entered the third founder of what we call Pax Praesidium today, the wandering Norn Bjorn, newly freed from the Dragonspawn, who came upon the two in their time of need. He was able to beat the Destroyers back, enough to get Kythas and Naxek to safety.

He bore Kythas on his back and Naxek on his bear companion, Lilla, to the free city of Lion's Arch, to his close friends and the final two founding members of Pax Praesidium; Ariadnia and Gralkyn Bloodwolf, a married Norn couple that owned a fairly popular tavern in Lion's Arch. Over the next few months these five would become close. Ariadnia and Gralkyn opened their home to Kythas and Naxek while they regrouped. Kythas eventually left to check on his family, but found that his wife and son, supposedly in the safety of his sister-in-law's home, had never made it. They perished at the hand of a group of Centaurs with diseased weapons during the journey.

Naxek and Kythas, both reeling from their recent personal losses and failures and outcasts in their own lands took up residence with Ariadnia and Gralkyn. Initially they take jobs together, to earn their keep with the couple. Naxek is enriched from the experience; work he can be proud of and a place to call home. Kythas, however, has a difficult recovery. Lion's Arch offers as many vices as it does anything else and Kythas takes to most of them. Soon the duo were offered bigger jobs, and they recruited their newfound friends, Bjorn, Ariadnia, and Gralkyn to begin adventuring with them.

The five of them grew close over this time and came to call themselves The Praesidium; The Defenders. As their fortunes and clientele grew, so too did their name. Eventually adventurers came from far and wide to join them. Bengil Durran, a Charr mercenary with a death sentence whose Billet was bought by The Praesidium in exchange for his service. Galvin, a young Asura with a desire to help people joined with them to help on a larger scale. Eurybia "Fish", an accomplished soldier initially contracted from the Seraph to reign over the influx of new members who at the end of his contract with the Seraphs left their order to join The Praesidium full time. Namfoodle, an Asuran Mesmer with a penchant for tricking people who owed his life to the reformed Bengil Durran joined up to repay his debt. The Human Mesmer Kythis Vael hired The Praesidium to help track down her brother, due to the success of the group and limited prospects she joined up with The Praesidium. These names represent but a few of the many Mercenaries and Heroes to grace the ranks of Pax Praesidium since its' formation.

With the increase in jobs and numbers came an increase in responsibility. Those factors, along with his friends, were enough to pull Kythas away from the vices he'd grown so fond of, and just in time. With the fame and talent they'd accrued the Lionsguard itself approached them, and offered an ongoing contract to supplement the City's defenses in its' times of need, on the condition that they take the contract as a Guild. Kythas, having reformed himself and bolstered by dreams for the future, agreed. The Mercenary company reforged its' identity and came to call itself Pax Praesidium, "Defenders of Peace". Though there are many motivations behind this goal - money, fame, and some unsavory - everyone in the Guild fights for this in their own way.

Hello, SirGamesalot here! I am a Pax Praesidium recruit, and I'm here to tell you a little about my experience with the the application process so far. This guild is not a guild that just adds someone and then kicks them right after because they didn't fit in the guild. When you send an application, everybody can see it and start asking you question/comment on what you have said. Not only will the guild find whether or not you fit to the guild, but you also find out if the guild fits you.

This guild could be good for people with, and without previous experience in big guild communities. They focus more (atleast that's how I see it) on the future, and what you will do for the guild, and not so much on your experience with other big pro guilds. During your application process you will answer questions asked by positive older members. You already feel like part of the gang before you actually have been accepted. It will also making other members know you better, making it easier for them to accept you. When an old member comes into your application and asks: waffles or pancakes? Then you know its a pretty good system

Give it a goo, try join pax gaming. Its not the end of the world if you don't get accepted. Anyways, that's all I had to say, byeee

I overlooked that GW1 section thing myself, as well. And you could have just asked us to move the other thread, that would have been fine. Given the replies in that thread, I've decided to merge the two threads anyway instead of deleting the other one, so you may want to clean up the OP a bit...

Heh, well. Thank you all the same Centaur.

While we don't expect Anet to open any RP servers we do look forward to finding an RP friendly server as many other mmos have such as Landroval is to Lotro. I look forward to meeting many new friends here during our wait on release and hopefully continuing that through Pax Preasidium after release so do give us a look if you're searching for a guild with a terrific community, top notch leadership and a long history of online gaming. I myself was looking for such a guild sometime back in prep for TSW and applied. Their forums were the most active I had ever seen for any gaming guild as they were always dropping into my application thread to ask questions or just to chat which made me feel immediately at home. So again, I encourage anyone searching for a home where you can put your feet up, relax and enjoy great company with other like-minded people to drop in on us at http://www.paxgaming...action=register/

I'm Siragard (Artreri on Pax forums) and I approve this message.

I think I just saw a Turbine game identified in this thread... for I vomited in my mouth (just a little bit). Screw Turbine. They sold out their customers and then ho'd out J.R.R. Tolkien's MMO world via their in-game store where it was Pay-2-Win (in all aspects of that game).

    Thank heavens for ArenaNet!

P.S. More importantly, good luck on your recruiting efforts Pax Praesidium!!!

I must agree with your sentiment on post ftp (pay to win) as this is where they lost me as a subscriber. Was just using lotro as an example of an mmo without a dedicated rp server but how the community came together to form their own.
