    Lightbulb Quivers

After watching some gameplay videos again, I couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed with the ranger's animation. The way they reach behind their backs and pull an arrow from... I don't know, between their bum cheeks perhaps?

I would really appreciate them adding a quiver to a ranger's back. Would make the animation look a lot better in my opinion. I love the fact that they've added bowstrings though! That's a big step forward already, but reaching for an arrow that isn't there just looks a bit silly.

Maybe an alternate "cape"? I like that idea actually. I hadn't noticed the lack of quivers but now that you've pointed it out it will bother me. :B

Well I was kind of thinking about having a quiver come with a bow, since rangers can also do melee. There would be no need for a quiver when you're dual wielding axes.
And then there's warriors, which are also able to wield bows. Would just make sense to me that when you switch to a bow, there would be a quiver on your back.

Eeeeeh....yeah, I guess I see your point. It wouldn't bother me if I were switching in and out frequently (IE, pull out sword when they close distance, CC, regain distance and pull out bow) but if I wanted a straight melee build, yeah.

I was thinking because of how you can hide/show cloaks in the original game -- and a way to do it without requiring another gear slot. Who knows, though -- maybe they'll do some costume slot stuff that has a quiver.

You could always leave a suggestion on the Feedback Portal. Apparently the devs do look there, and I'd certainly support it.

It's funny cause there are so many games which are guilty of this. Remember though, this game is still in production. I would think a quiver would be something small that they simply have on the back burner for right now. As detail oriented A-Net has been thus far, I wouldn't be surprised to see quivers show up come release day.

hmm yeah well, were does all your carried luggage go? into the magical bottomless box? inside your little pocket? I don't really care about weak touches when already there's too much to gawk at and more pressing concerns at hand.

Why do quivers HAVE to be on our backs? Why not on the upper part of the legs? It should easier both irl and animation complexity.

Because in 99.9% of all cases in the "normal" world quivers have been palced on the back of the person for easy of drawing a new arrow after you have fired your last one. With that circular motion you can get quite astonishing firing speeds on a bow. If the quiver was placed on the leg it would 1) be really cumbersome to walk around and b) be more difficult to draw the next arrow in the same fell swoop as you fire your previous one.

I always thought the quiver should be the Ranger's offhand. It doesn't have to be functional, just aesthetic.

Well, in history quivers have been straped on legs, hanging from belts, etc... you don't have to animate the traditional reach back, and in fact, if they were to place it by the leg, it wouldn't interfere with the Guild capes that are so important to Guild Wars... so there you go.

.....Never let modern day travesties harm the memory of greatness.
