Your Top 10 Video Games of All Time

Ol' JohnnyV n I were discussing this yesterday and it's way harder than you might imagine, for me at least. I thought I'd whip up something to see if I can at least get a working list together. These aren't technically best, just the ones that receive a top 10 award in your personal video game hall of monuments.

1. Super Street Fighter 2
2. Soul Calibur
3. Streets of Rage 2
4. Double Dragon
5. Half-Life/Half-Life Deathmatch
6. Heavy Rain
7. Golden Axe 2
8. Final Fantasy 8
9. Ultima Online
10. Resident Evil 2

This was pretty brutal because I had to snub games I absolutely loved. I'll have to give honorable mentions to Guild Wars, Fallout 3, Pacman, Galaga, Final Fantasy 7, The Tekken Series, and Mortal Kombat 2.

The thing about my Top 10 list is that it's in constant flux. Even after typing out that Top 10, I'm making arguments in my head about how one game could easily be put in front of another.

Playing through a game right now called Red Dead Redemption, which could easily bust into the Top 10 when all is said and done.

For me this is even way harder than making a top 10 movie list. I also keep thinking of titles that didn't even come up during my first list. Mega Man 3, Super Star Wars, X-Men Arcade, TMNT Arcade, ugh.

I guess my honorable mention list would be: Metal Gear Solid 4, Portal, Tetris, Mega Man 2, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, NCAA Football 11, and TIE Fighter

Hah that's funny. Fallout 3 was my first as well. Loved it. Probably woulda made my top 10 if the ending wasn't so abrupt.

LOL not quite. I was just kind of expecting a cinematic or a great payoff instead of a couple stills and a voiceover.

Haha, what annoyed me actually is Bethesda's stupid idea to cut the gameplay once the final quest is done, in both games. Although, I didn't actually play FO3 until the Broken Steel was released, so I wasn't affected so much. As for New Vegas... well, thank God for the nexus site and modders, I dled this mod that allows you to keep playing after the last quest.

Ooooh damn. This is gonna be tough. I'm listing a top 10 but they may not necessarily be in this order.

1) Neverwinter Nights (yes, the original...it still holds up after 10 years)
2) Guild Wars
3) Arkham Asylum
4) Legends of Zelda: A Link to the Past (played the hell out of that game as a kid)
5) Soul Calibur IV
6) Dragon Age
7) Neverwinter Nights 2 (good, but still prefer the original overall)
8) Oregon Trail
9) Mario Kart (I always tried to hit the cows...)
10) Heavenly Sword


And haven't played it yet (own it...doing an NWN binge before I start it) but I'm pretty sure The Witcher is going to rate up there too. I also have this uncomfortable feeling I'm gonna have a "WTF HOW DID I FORGET THAT ONE" moment later on, lol.
