I'm actually planning on creating one character of each of the five races on launch day so I really won't have a "main race." The first character that I intend to play, however, will be a Charr, so that's what I picked.

I'm going to have more than one of every race, since I want one of every profession...which means I'll have to double up on two races...most likely those will be Sylvari and Charr, but I might even end up with ten characters...kill me now. lol

I've only plotted out six characters so far. Here's how my thinking goes: by the time I get around to needing more than five character slots, they'll have released at least one expansion. If it goes the same way it did in GW1, that expansion will come with a couple of character slots.

I'm a mad altoholic though. I'll be buying character slots on day one...not sure how many yet...that's the only question yet. Looks like five though. lol
