    Guardian

After reading more about the Guardian, it seems like one of those Flaky tactitioners......

quotes "while the warrior relies on brute force the guardian can use his shield to block the warriors finishing blow" - the only one who is finishing blow is the one who is high enough to sell a G like this in the first place...

I am teh warriorz, I am teh not gna Pwnz you when your teh hp is teh low, 1) its too easy 2) i suspect you will shield 3) you will die anyway even with low attacks, plus I can just build up my adrenaline on you b4 I finish you and go onto my next target, besides in PvP situation I will have better support than you...............4) Soon as you use teh barrietz, Yo A$$ is ...teh MINE.

barriers last for 1-2 second bursts then wait 30 until next boost.....good luck blowing one of these off early, just watch me counting to 30 in my head and see me not waste 1 skill.

quote "shield blocks good for ettin" a powerful but slow mob, im sure will not be hittin 1nce every 30 sec, but that momentary downtime is good for G to heal itself.....while warrior can doodoo the same tootoo.

quote "hp will be less then warrior significantly ... OOOOOOOUCCHHHHHH ... hp will have regen good for mutli smaller mobs" okay, if you say so, I believe (no joke) but how will that be any good in PvP specially against burst atk....

Man I am just NOT seeing the light for Guardians.....nor am I excited AT ALL about a gun tooting soldier which sound like a RANGER FFS with plate possibly or chain......sword and board........gun and board?

PLUS I have it on official word DPS is not as good as the WaRgh now with hp too lol

I think the G is gna need sum LoVe

I completely disagree... I think Guardians will be great for PvP and PvE.

Watching the Pvp from Gamescon and PAX, I have seen a lot of good Guardians. One of the Devs plays a very "tanky" Guardian keeping himself alive. He was doing really well soaking up dmg while capturing points.

What you aren't realizing is, sure maybe Guardians aren't the best 1v1... but thats why Pvp isnt balanced around that. It is balanced around Team Play, and that is where the guardian shine. They can disable one of their own passives to buff their teammates and can use Wards and Symbols to keep enemies away from their squishier allies while using Boons and Buffs to power them up.

I forsee the guardian being almost a must have in PvP. they are just so supportive and so helpful to allies to pass up.

One thing I think people aren't quite understanding is that the Guardian has a ton of utility that's on short cooldowns.. He hits pretty hard, and has loads of regen.

Conditions I take it are like being slowed, bleeding, vulnerabilities, dots, fear?
With this build that I'm thinking about..
    http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/...switch=34e0445

Take a look, you've got the ability to get into the fray super quick with Leap strike.
    ------------------------------------
    Passively, you're getting Regen from:
    Signet of Resolve
    Virtue of Resolve
    Leap of Faith
    -------------------------------
You can remove conditions from yourself or allies:
    Purge Conditions (18s)
    Smite Conditions (30s)
    Virtue of Resolve (150s)
    -------------------------------

I dunno, I can see Guardians who enable their team to not be CC'd very effectively, hard countering things like Tornadoes with the elite skill, Doing loads of AoE damage and knocking down, keeping people knocked around.. Speeding up teammates constantly.. Burning the hell outta everyone and everything.. You're not an army of 1 though, where as the Warrior might be better suited at that.. But if you've got a couple guardians together, they're gonna be removing conditions off eachother nonstop, knocking down and burning the world.. Trapping everything inside circles and rendering elite skills like Tornadoes virtually useless with a hard counter elite skill of their own..

Guardians are one of those classes where things could potentially become imba very fast, as a group of 2 can effectively remove conditions every 9 seconds just by Purging Conditions, and then still remove more from themselves.. You get 3 together.. every 6 seconds all conditions are gone.. This coupled with high mobility from Leap of Faith, Symbol of Swiftness, Judge's Intervention, Binding Blade is kinda Meh.. but at least when they return to you, you can Banish them and launch them flying again.. That's fun.

I dunno, just making discussion =P

Wow, thanks for sharing Armory, that's great footage.

In any case, Guardians are NOT WARRIORS. If you try to play one as a warrior, of course you will fail. Just like if you try to play an elementalist as a warrior. That doesn't mean they can't deal damage, the above video is a great example of that.

One of the problems is that people think in terms of current MMOs. GW2 isn't just a hotkey MMO, even if it comes with the "shell" of one. A guardian-like character in another mmo with shields that last just a few seconds would probably fail, but GW2 is alot more fast paced than current MMOs and those few seconds are a lot more meaningful because of that.

Personally, Guardians will probably be in the top/first 4 classes I play, just after Engineer, mesmer and possibly elementalist.

PvE Guardians are way better, but I agree that Warriors are (mostly) better in PvP. And is this just to rant about how warriors are better? Because that's idiotic.

Isn't it a bit weird to have an argument over which is better when neither of them have even been finalised. The Guardian could well be completely changed before the actual release. Therefore it makes no sense that a person is saying a class that they have never played and has not even been finalised against another class which they have never played and has not ben finalised yet. Just get lives guys, this is just ridiculous.

Overall I'd have to say yes the guardian does seem a little underpowered. Which sucks cuz I wana play him so bad cuz I love the whole battlemage thing. But I mean he has the lowest health, yes heavy armor will help but I read somewhere heavy armor is only like an 8-11% increase. Also his range is crucially limited and while I love all his bubbles, how long they last is a little lame I definitely think they should last longer. I don't like the whole focus on support aspect either. And yes I've made some warrior builds that seem to have more support than a freaking gaurdian....But ya I really hope they make some changes to him and if not I'll still try him out but will probably go warrior or ele.

First of all, I'd like to recommend that you read this. Guardians are very versatile. They can be amazing support but can also be changed into a very durable and strong as shown here. The shields last longer than a few seconds. Most of them last between 5-10 seconds which is a long time when in the middle of a battle. Especially if you're in PvP. Guardian's work very well in groups so you'll see a lot of the abilities I chose focused on keeping your group alive while dealing out a ton of damage. Like Ring of Warding. You can trap an enemy in there and rain down hell on the target. If you look at the traits I made it so my Guardian would get buffed while in a group, since I will be playing in a group with friends most of the time.

It all depends on how a person plays any profession. One person may be an amazing Guardian who can deal as much damage as a warrior and absorb a bunch of damage at the same time, while another person may stay in the back attacking with a staff and not play the profession to it's full potential. Some builds may work a lot better than others that are trying to do the same thing (or something similar). Professions get more complex the higher they get when they get access to more utility skills, elite skills, and traits. Two warriors using a great sword and hammer probably won't be playing their warrior the same.

You'll probably encounter a lot of Guardians in PvP who have no idea what they're doing, the same with all of the other professions. Then there will be people who are okay at their profession as well as people who are good (but not great) at their character. However, you'll eventually run into the other people who have thoroughly thought out how they're going to play their character, tested out strategies, and will wipe the floor with you over and over again because they were able to pinpoint your weaknesses and manipulate your abilities against you with their plethora of abilities. I'll enjoy scrambling your brain around on my mesmer.
