Thread: Mesmer and .........

If you're still hoping for something else than the Mesmer, then prepare for a disappointment. To summarize what they've said so far:

Jon Peters on the Mesmer profession:
"What we've said at some point is people who enjoy that play-style will be happy, but no more than that."

    Jon Peters (about the Mesmer):
"The people expect a lot and we know that many enjoy mind tricks and aspects like that. And we'll quite certainly not disappoint those people."

Eric Flannum (before the reveal of the Engineer profession):
"We've given hints out, so I think it's safe for me to say that there is one brand new profession and one returning profession yet to be revealed."

Q: I think one of you promised players who had played the Mesmer in GW1, that in GW2 they would find a profession to fill their expectations. I'll ask this way, then: have we already seen the profession that meets their expectations?
Eric Flannum: "That's... a very interesting question. We have certainly seen a few professions that can fit some of their expectations, but I don't think we have seen the character that would best fit their expectations. "

And finally, Eric Flannum (when asked for a clue wrt the 8th profession):
"I don't think we can give them any more clues than we've already given, without saying the name... I think that's about the next step, so, sorry, I can't do that."

If you read that last one after all those previous ones, what other name could he possibly have in mind?

And a follow-up to my previous post about the game's release... a South Korean press release with regard to the G-Star games convention there (November 10-13) announced that GW2 would be at the show, "following the start of the Beta West!" This would indicate that the closed beta is set to start early November... which could move the whole schedule I had in mind forward by a full month.
We haven't had official confirmation from ArenaNet on this, though!

Mind tricks and sort can also be aquired with a profession that creates drugs.
Also, just because they said, there will be a returning profession, they can take that saying back, without having to tell us. As long as the mesmer is not confirmed, I don't give up hope for something else, which indeed would be similar. But if the mesmer really is the last one, they could make it using drugs additional to the (in my eyes) lame leftover state of the Mesmer.

To that Beta West show: It could also be a beta of 4 days just for that Convention, and some time after that they will do the actual closed beta.

With regard to the closed beta starting in early November, Martin Kerstein replied:

We haven't changed our stance on this. We will start closed beta before the end of the year like we mentioned in our FAQ.
Which doesn't confirm or deny anything, really...

You know, I just realised that we're going to have a GW2 closed beta really soon, I didn't realise we were already so close to the end of the year (or at the least, very close to November). Sadly I think I have about 0% chance of getting into the closed beta, but perhaps we'll get a nice increase in footage and/or information.

I really hope it does begin in early November.

Don't expect much info to come out of closed beta... the people who are let in there (mostly family and friends) will have to sign an NDA and are forced to keep their mouth shut on almost anything they find. And yes, I don't think any of us have a good chance of getting into that circle of friends...

As already said, the mesmer has been released as a playable race. They have some SERIOUSLY awesome powers such as teleportation. They are probably going to drive me nuts during pvp. lol

After the Mesmer release i was soooo happy, that class not only looks powerful, it looks interesting, and i cant wait to play it. It was pretty obvious that it was the big "last class" but it was still cool to hear it. In my pirate guild, a mesmer will be extremely helpful for raiding.
