I wouldn't rule them out as sworn enemies unless Anet has said something, I mean, sure we know there are centaur bandits but there are also human bandits (surely), doesn't mean there aren't humans/centaurs that are friendly, or at least the sort of "friendly" as seen in GW1.
You mean I can still hope for centaurs as playable race in one of the expansions?
There's always hope!
You have to consider 2 things.
First: Only one tribe of centaurs were "friendly".
Second: These tribe were in Elona, but GW2 is in Tyria.
Yeah, I know... I didn't expect them to add centaurs in the upcoming game, I was talking about one of the future expansions... I fully expect them to let us explore the future versions of Cantha and Elona in those expansions. And there, playable centaurs would make perfect sense to me.
Even then, I wouldn't play centaurs. I prefer the races with human shape.^^
But it would be a nice idea to add some curious races with more then 2 legs or 2 arms.
I hope they add Tengu as a Playable race that would be epic. They could retreat to Tyria in of the expansions because the Canthan emperor is kicking them out.

So they don't need kicked out of Cantha.
