Y'know, because its finally getting its PS3 release when the new FFXIV: A Realm Reborn (aka FFXIV 2.0) hits later this year, so I won't have to upgrade anything to play it.
Its kinda sad, sure... but not really.

.....Never let modern day travesties harm the memory of greatness.
Good luck with that. I think many gamers will want to see a finished and polished product from SquareEnix before sinking back into FF14. Speaking of that, did they change to FTP? Cause if not, its not gonna go anywhere from the trend we are seeing.
Its getting a complete overhaul from graphics to gameplay to just about everything (hence the word "Reborn" in the title), and yes, they're going to start charging a monthly fee once this version hits (the original version has been f2p because Square didn't feel they could justify the fee with the subpar initial release on PC)... the first gameplay footage of this new version actually doesn't hit until next week, I believe, but there are a few screenshots that have been published by a few sites/magazines.
And how does this sound like a terrible idea? Because I don't have $800+ to get a computer than can play GW2 (much less the $1500+ to get one that can run it really well), my fall back plan to play a fantasy based MMO on my PS3 is a terrible idea? Well thanks for your input, Cid, its much appreciated... I have an open wound on my shoulder, too, would you like to pour some salt into it?

I'm sorry to hear that Lucread!
I'm just wondering, are you SURE your pc can't run it at minimum graphics etc?
Have you made this decision based on BWE's?

I understand its getting a 100% overhaul, but based on the track record of the previous release and the fact that the patches they did release to try to make the game at least somewhat playable has fallen short, really doesn't leave me much room for hope from this title. Trust me when I say I hope I am wrong, I love Final Fantasy as a whole. I just can't get over what they did in the past. Nor would I be willing to pay monthly for a game that I have little faith in.

Cid, honestly, do you see how I am responding about a game I am iffy about? I get it, you don't trust the FF14 title either, but they are redo'ing the whole thing. I just wont be jumping up and down with my money in hand until they can prove that not only is the game playable, but the game is stable has things to do and is enjoyable.
