I would be interested in FFXIV if there was no sub. It would be a nice thing to have handy for the PS3 when my husband wants to play something on the PC and I am therefore unable to play GW2. But alas, I really hate subscriptions.

Sucks that he made 189 posts in a forum about a game that he won't play at all.

I will try out everything in GW2. I might even master something.

Yeah, well... it was more of a "pop" then a fire started inside the machine... only things salvageable were the DVD drive, the Hard Drive (barely), and a single stick of RAM... hell, even the tower itself was pretty much toast. It was a sad sad day for me.

Try DC Universe Online... its got free2play options and is pretty fun. I played it for more than a year before finally getting burned out on it thanks to League (i.e. Guild) drama.

Yeah, but check out my join date... I've managed less than 200 posts in more than two years of membership... I come and go a lot, lol.

Well I hope to see you in game sometime. I shall call the money Gods and see if they can relinquish some of their earnings on you. Best of luck

So I stumbled upon a budgeting plan that made a new computer affordable and I'm getting it and Guild Wars 2 next week (well, I'm getting GW2 tomorrow, but the PC wont arrive til next week, lol)... so yeah! Super excited... and FFXIV will likely be passed by without a second thought, lol. Yay!

hahah I'm glad to hear you'll be joining us ingame.

I think a new PC is a good investment anyway. And when you factor in the monthly fees for a sub based game... yeah.. may as well get a decent PC and play a game with no monthly fee. heheh

You and I both! I will probably never go back to another sub based game. Too many decent F2P and P2P options to warrant paying $180 a year ON TOP of the game's initial $60 fee. That's $240 for just the first year of playing a sub based game. No thanks... never again.

    Welcome back!

Did you try looking at Micro Center? You can build your own for the cheapest prices imaginable and it's really easy. My comp blew up a few weeks into GW2 and the ppl on here suggested it to me and it has been awesome.

I really don't see how the new MMOs are going to get away with charging a sub. I'm very interested to see what some of them do, like Elder Scrolls and EQNext. I think GW2 has set a new standard and showed a way that a good game can not only survive the MMO market but excell in it without subs.

No, I actually wound up getting a mid range gaming PC from Best Buy with their 18 month financing plan, which will cost me a $36 a month minimum to ensure that no interest is added... I'm sure I'll have it paid off before then, but only having to pay $36 a month is something I can now afford, especially since I'm getting rid of my cable box which was already costing me $17, so this is really only about $20 extra a month. So its kinda like I'm paying a sub fee to play GW2, except I can also play other stuff with it and the fee will eventually go away, lol.

    I laughed at this

I'm really glad you decided to go with GW2 though! I played FF XI a lot back in the day but I feel like XIV is a bit out dated in terms of business model. Subscription is not worth it, especially when we see a game like GW2 with an amazing amount of content for $60.
