That is sad... because honestly, I'd rather have gay people (or any group of people really) mix naturally with non-gay people. Diversity is strength. If gays seclude themselves in their own circles, they will miss out on hetero culture and we will miss out on gay culture. This is how seperation is bred, people. Encourage gay people to not hide from us, we don't bite! And if you see someone bite, slap him on the snout for being a homophobe!

So agreed, same goes for people who speak English but are from various contries. I enjoy meeting and guilding with all kinds of people, so I feel that other Danes grouping in Danish or Scandinavian guilds are sorely missing out. Their choice of course

I can understand though, why you would want to be in a gay only guild. I myself is not gay, but I cringe every time I see a lame "that's gay" comment or another idiot gay joke/tease in chats. Even the nicest of people can be so ignorant and YES I am often that naggy downer person who has to ask: stop using gay as a negative word. So I can totally understand why you would want to avoid that all together. It is sad though, that you would have to.

Would much rather have it that way, but keep in mind many who seek these guilds have been there, done that. These guilds always allow str8 friends to join. The point is to keep the ones who are douches away from us. That is not easily done when you're the only one who is gay out of 30-40 and most of those care far about loot than whether you're disrespected. In my own experience in 7-8 years of MMO (XI, WoW, TOR) in various endgame guilds the following is typical:

The guild leaders or other important members are outspoken homophobes, but if you complain it breaks "no drama" rule. Obvious double standard in what we can talk about in guild chat/vent, if there's even anyone else gay. Rival guilds stooping to post on our forum, under my character name, gay porn and links to the fred phelps site, and telling lies about me in game to PUGs, trying to get me to quit. Had some random asshole in my own PT say "haha you have aids."

Had to black list half my own guild in the end cause they couldn't go an hour without "homo this" "****** that" and mocking gay members of other guilds. Then i get called out on it, I'm honest about why i did that, and they tell me get over it, we're not changing etc. Some were by then approaching 30 years old too, just pathetic. Finally when i had enough i joined a smaller guild that was mostly gay, but had a few str8 friends, and yeah that crap suddenly stopped, go figure. But no, the point isn't to "talk about sex" so much as have fun and not be insulted by your own guild or server (yay Crystal Desert) on a daily basis. I'm sure others can relate to at least some of that.

Hey, for what it's worth, I am the Guild Leader of Hedonism and a lesbian. I personally haven't had any real problems in the MMO's I've played, in fact, my being out has helped a few other people in my guilds come out as well.

I'm sure by now you've found a guild Narwhal, but if there is anyone else out there who is looking for a place that is welcoming and where it is ok to be open, my guild is a safe place to be no matter your age or gender ID (or anything else for that matter). As long as people respect me, live and let live.
