If they want, both players can be b0osted automaticaly at lvl80 remaining with actual skills and gear.
So will be WvWvW simulations. And they can do it just in lvl80 areas, so exploit vs mobs will be avoided.

It's hard to scrip that?? I'll script that!! I want to duel my friends! To test myself for WvWvW! WTF?
I don't think there's anything that hard about making duels. However since you can make your own PVP matches, who said you can't make a 1 on 1 PVP match and test yourself against friends. Guild Wars 1 doesn't have dueling, but you can still go to a guild hall and 1v1 against someone else if you choose by making your own match.

Having to do it in open world, however, can be disruptive to other people who think it's annoying and stupid. That's why games like Rift give you an option to ignore requests for duels.

By all means, go fight one on one with your friends. I'm sure that option is already in the game. Why should it be called dueling? LOL

Hello, first of all...im new to the gw series...so i've been doing research reading forums, wiki, lores, etc...and then I came across this thread. Like some of the replies here, i come from ffa world pvp. I played Lineage 2 (also made by NCSoft)most of my life so I am pvp oriented. Even WoW is considered pve in the L2 community because you have pve and pvp servers and is faction based so u can't attack those in your side, whereas all servers in L2 are the same and everyone is fair game. I'm not trying to bash on WoW ( I did played for a few months and it is fun) but to give you guys an idea of how pvp oriented the game is. Anyways, the game survived for 7+ years and recently they made free to play in the new update about a month ago, so now all servers are FULL and hard to login due to high traffic, so not a small community for being a pvp game . Yes there are some low lvl gankings but if players don't fight back then they get player killing points (murder in AoC i guess) and they have to grind it off or else they might drop their gear if they die (so if u get PKed u shout in chat and pk hunters will be there in no time), and there is a buff blessing for low lvls that protects you from higher lvls PKing you ( as long as you dont hit back). The game is super grindy so there's a lot of pve going on. However I stopped playing due to NCSoft implementing online stores for game goods like enchants scrolls and potions to lvl faster (need to make revenues i understand that) but now the game turned into a pay to win system. So here I am considering to give this game a shot and although I was somehow disappointed with the lack of pvp content, the WvWvW seems to make up for it. If it works as i understand it, then I don't think it's gonna be an issue for me =) . And the fact that everyone gets to same lvl in WvWvW means pvp from the start and i don't have to grind to max lvl to play competitive I don't see why complain. But I am curious about those mini games that some of you mentioned, and if implemented in the future would be great. Hope to see you all in game and sorry for the wall of text, I tend to do that .

p.s. the title Guild Wars is misleading, I thought it meant open ffa pvp where you join a guild and battle it out with other guilds :P . But then again I come from a PvP background mmo.

Hi jodiaz, welcome to these forums. Yes, when the original Guild Wars was released it was extremely pvp oriented (and the name fit much better), but that quickly changed and ArenaNet discovered that people were just as interested in good pve content. GW2 is the result of everything they've learned since then...

Try using paragraphs divisions, it makes it much easier for us to read

Well, the title "Guild Wars 2" in this game is as misleading as the title "Resident Evil" in Resident Evil 5, or even in 2 since they don't exactly take place in a residence. Games evolve and they keep the title and the brand, it's how marketing works and I see no problem with it.

Now in regards to the OP, I think pretty much all I could say has already been said in this thread, given that it's old and now we have much more info on the WvWvW, we should be more than ok for PvP. I know that pretty much every PvP focused player I know (including myself) is interested in this game for it's awesome PvP mechanics in WvWvW and the competitive eSport aspect of the 5v5 arena games.

The Guilds in "Guild Wars" are from a time shortly before the start of Guild Wars one and is an integral part of the lore so it's totally apt to have the game take its name from there I'd say.

Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.

I don't see it being a good thing to have open world pvp in the pve areas. Griefing players is not a fun experience. The WvWvW pvp great pvp and lets both pve and pvp players enjoy the game.

The most fun I have had in previous mmorpg games is large pvp battles and with WvWvW they will happen a lot more often then they would in the open world pvp system that other games have.

This is really kind of a moot point based on how dynamic events scale and how some skills both do damage to enemies and buff/heal allies.

Also, I see it's your first post -- welcome!

I actually like the system they are using for PvP, WvWvW is so huge that it should feel a lot like Open World PvP. I think this will make the game more balanced as a whole and not muddy the PvE waters either. It's odd for me to say this since I'm a HUGE Open World PvP fan but it just never seems to be done correctly.

There already is a option to do world pvp. Do some research and you will know that. Nuff said.
