    South American Host for PvP

Well first of all, hi and greetings from brazil!

After reading how PvP will handle in this game i just got more excited than i was already.

So i want to knhow if the game will have South American Hosts for PvP or even better, a Brazilian Host?

World of Warcraft took 7 years to release a Brazilian realm, each really pissed me off since we were 95% of the population from Warsong for a very very long time.

And there`s only one thing worse than doing PvP with high pings, is doing PvP with high ping against low ping enemies.

Im really looking foward to this game, everytime i read something about it i just get more excited but without dedicated hosts for PvP in my country it´ll ruin all the gameplay experience.

    Thanks.

Hi CoMaNdO, welcome to these forums.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to your question at this time, as ArenaNet have not revealed anything yet about how they plan to set up their server network (and we're not associated with ANet - we're just a community forum, not an official ArenaNet forum). I definitely hope that they will have servers distributed all over the world, to give everyone an equal opportunity to play pvp.

I doubt it. I don't remember any south american players in the original GW competitive PvP and I've never seen demand for a south american server... and the game exists for over 6 years now.

Well, the majority of the GW1 population (and its 7+ million accounts sold) was in the US and in Western Europe. I think that GW2 may well beat GW1's sales on the day it is released... it has drawn attention from different gaming communities and different parts of the world, so they will definitely need to take that into account when they set up their server park.

I not even knew GW existence before GW2. And im pretty sure many others are in the same situation. Sorry for GW1 players to heard that but it´s true, at least here in Brazil.

But this game got our attention and im pretty sure many of us gonna play it now.

Hope they can make it enjoyble world-wise.

When battling teams from a different continent, chances are 50/50 that you will have lags anyway. As for WvWvW , well I guess the servers will be stationed in NA, Europe (my bet is Germany ofc), Korea and maybe Japan on the release so I guess you'll have to settle for a while with an NA server. If the Brazilian / South American community is as large as you speak, Anet will notice - in GW1 for example, Taiwan and China got sepparate servers post release (unless I got my facts wrong). China is completely isolated from the rest of the servers though, guess twice why.

In any case, my fellow brazuca, I doubt you will play only with players from the same nation.

In Warsong we had a specific case, where the Brazilian Zerg took over. But in Guild Wars 2 we will have less realms specially because of the WvWvW events. If you play, you will have to do it with people from other countries and therefore, with different latencies.

My point here is the following: unless you plan on playing in a server populated only by South American players, you will have to deal with lag. There is no way out of it, in any game. Maybe browser games with good servers, but that misses the point by far.

Cheer up, it's been more than once that the players with worse latency won tournaments in GW1, and believe me, GW2 will not be as ping dependant as GW1... by a long shot.
