Thread: ArenaNet: Guild Wars 2 Game Status Update (2012-08-26)

I rolled a mesmer and a guardian and honestly both seems awesome, now with the guardian I am able to face-roll a lot of the veterans and even got into many events I have managed to do just by myself, now as a new player I will say it will be hard for them to master guardian or mesmer right out of the bat, I think you need to have a little experience with how the game behave before been able yo tackle with success mesmer or guardian.
Jhn 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Well same can be said for any class. You'll do better the more you understand it. I have no idea how mesmers are in PVE, but a good mesmer in WvW is king. Thiefs abusing the rendering issues had some use but now that they addressed that issue in the latest patch (cant contest while in stealth), they don't measure up to mesmers.

Oh yeah, gaurdian is a blast pve.
Im not plug how awesome I am, but I have great survivability, great damage, and have a ton of support for groups.

Thats said, in wvw, those with the least ranged capabilities, will be the first to die. Alternatively, they can hide in the back like wussies just popping out of doorways to blow cd's and run away again. Neither of those 2 options are very much fun. So gaurdian being one of (if not, THE) worst ranged classes, they arent too much fun in that regard.

I do agree that mesmer is one of the more challenging classes to learn. I picked mes first when I was in beta and I had a horrible time with it. Now going back, with the experience I have, it made a world of difference. Its definitley a finesse class. Cant wait to get her in EB.

Well duh, they've pretty much been the best class across the board since release. Even after nerfs.

How charming. It's okay, they've been hitting thieves ridiculously hard with the nerf bat these past 2 months. Mesmers will be next. GW2 makes flavor of the month stupid-easy.

Dude is there any thread where you don't plug how awesome you are?!? Huh is there?!?!

You can be fine as a non range person, you just have to be smart about it. I'm suprised that after 3 months of the game (and a lifetime of learning and understanding basic strategy) people still don't do simple things like 'the flank", even as a one man flank. That can change the tide of a battle really easy.

if its an even fight, you should have no problems fighting mele, if you are the larger force no problems obv, if you are smaller force you have to play a little smarter; flank them, be in the middle of your group providing buffs, bubbles and such. Like I said, I like the flank from the back becaues they're not looking for it and you can do good damage before they even face you and if they do, your team can move up and ifthey don,t just keep on mowing them down.

The other thing I like to do it be a shock troop, pop shurinign earth, teleport right in the mix and give everyone 8 stacks of bleed, cripple and damage. Then do my earth knockdown, then air, shoching aura, then another knockdown, then some fire damage for more DPS and burn conditions and then mistform out...by then the bad guys hp has dropped, they couldn't do damage while they were knocked down, they blew some utilities to remove conditions (or if they didn't even better!) and some of the pugs may hace paniced and are running away. Its hectic in a battle, most people are not being 100% camp and rational, if you pop in and they get low on health, and your group strats pushing, you can route a much larger force and once they've turned and running, they're easy pickings. I find it a very useful tactic. Just dont do it TOO much in the smae fight because you will get targeted by 10 people at once after they catch on.

Well you're quite the charmer yourself, leading in with the "duh". I just treat others the same way they do.

I wouldn't know. I've been an ele since the start. When eles were the hardest class to play. Back when I was a special little snowflake. Now I see more and more bunker builds pop up because its a good one, and it making me feel less special.

I do love flanking, but if it doesnt go down perfect, your chances of corpse running are really high. I never heard you mention playing melee so Im trying to understand your direct experience relating to my issues? None the matter, Range will have an easier time especially if you just want to keep a distance and help your team. Though I do love dropping walls in doorways

Oh, Im a D/D elementalist (so I understand the pitfalls because even as a bunker build, Im still a cloth mele player). All I play is mele, unless attacking a keep, but still mele when defending a keep so I can come out and knock people off siege equipment and fight them infront of the door, giving ranged people and siege people free to rain fire down on those fools. (and then also doing damage to rams in the process) I can mistfrom back safely, and even our downstate vapor form is insta available so I can pop back into the keep if I get downed.

But I wasn't mocking you. I've just never really understood the usefulness of pointing out the obvious. It's usually only met with equally obvious responses. Such as my own.
