ArenaNet Blog: Introducing the Guild Wars 2 Charr Plush (2011-09-08)

As some of you already noticed, Penny Arcade now has the Charr Plushie for sale. ArenaNet decided to dedicate a blog post to this cute but fiersome plushie:

The charr are known as ferocious, relentless conquerors who grind opponents under the wheels of their war machines. A real charr would probably make a mess of your home, terrorize your pets, and eat all your food, so we’re offering the next best thing – a huggable charr plush doll!

This soft plush version of Guild Wars 2‘s ferocious charr will be a loyal companion at work, home, or on the road! This 17-inch-long plush doll is ruggedly constructed from soft, high-quality material that will stand up to everything from hugs to housecats!

Pick up a charr companion of your own from the Penny Arcade Store in North America or the NCsoft Merchandise Store in Europe! Hurry – supplies are limited!
[Edit] sorry, Europe is already sold out!

The full blog post can be found here.

And here's a bit of additional info from Martin Kerstein:

    some clarifications on some points:
    - I can assure you that the "quantities are limited" is no "Marketing BS". They are limited.
    - The model is bigger than the Wind Rider and also more detailed. We had them next to each other.
    - 35$ is a reasonable prize for a plush of this size and quality. Before calling it "ridiculous" "overprized" or "rip off", I highly recommend to do some resarch in how production of things like this actually works.
    - The plushie is absolutely adorable, even though he gets a bit grumpy when I forbid him to play with the iPad. :P
See also the discussion in this thread.

So if you're interested, be sure to get one while supplies last.

What a cute....kitten. I love how he tries to explain the $35 price tag. It might not be a "rip-off", but can't see myself paying that much for a stuffed plush....even if it is cool

Well, you have companies like Gamersfirst to thank for not being able to call it a rip off Those guys sell permanent in-game guns for 50$. Anyway, it's an awesome plushie.... but it's a charr, and therefore awesome by default.

Bad news for the people in Europe who are willing to buy one but didn't do so yet. From Martin Kerstein:

the charr plushie is already sold out in Europe. You can still get some at the Penny Arcade Store - but shipping costs will obviously be higher for Europeans.

I find that surprising, but it goes to show just how well the marketing team has done for GW2 in general.

Well, Martin did confirm that quantities were limited. But my assumption is that they underestimated how popular it would be...

US/Canadian residents have another chance of winning one of these... leave a comment on the gamesradar site this weekend, and you'll participate in their drawing.

The only good thing about teh EU-one runing out: I no longer have to fight the urge to buy one with money that will be very much needed in a couple of months when I move into the house my wife and I have bought...

Feeling tired? There's a nap for that.
