If you make a thread "Comparison GW2 vs. WoW", I'll be the last one to tell you to stop doing it, although I'll still say it's silly to compare those games if you don't know what you're talking about. And unlike many of the WoW comparisons, I'm actually substantiating why I don't like these comparisons. Just like you're generalizing what I'm doing, people generalize what WoW is about and half the time they have no clue about it. And that's just plainly pointless.
I'm not exactly asking you to be tolerant, I'm telling you to do a bit more work than just saying "WoW stinks, because gear grind, treadmill <insert other trendy hate phrase of choice>" or "GW2 is better than WoW because it's a gift from heaven".
Sadly, most of these "comparisons" are more like venting or worship. And neither is useful.
I can't speak for the world in general, or the gaming public in general, but for me PERSONALLY this game is such a breath of fresh air in a stale feeling genre.
It's hard in this genre to step outside the box of what the industry has decided is the best way to do things.
Like many others have said, after playing this game from beta events through today, I can't imagine going back to another other mmo currently out there.
I haven't had this much fun in an mmo in nearly 10 years! (not since daoc rvr)
Tuktz - WAR - Shaman - Gorfang | Durc - WOW - Druid - Gul'dan | Nulo - DAOC - Sorcerer - Albion / Lancelot
Generalizations seem to be what you are all about. None of my compressions are without informed knowledge. So you are generally lumping me in with those that worship or vent... It is still intolerant tolerance.
" it's silly to compare those games if you don't know what you're talking about." now that saying that I dont know what i am talking about? That is not true. Where is the evidence for that?
Comparison...
GW2 was a success in launching because it had very little issues. Some of the issues will be resolved but over all the game came out with little hitch.
Diablo 3 half the gaming community could not get on the game... and some still cant..
Swotor had major game breaking bugs... Ability lag to name one...
WoW had major server stability issues. there were many a time when Blizzard had to hand out free time because their servers crashed...
Guild wars 2 was a surprising event for launch. Things worked. It is not a gift from heaven because it still has some issues to work out but overall success.
Those are fair comparisons that are not insulting or worshiping said games or guild wars.

If you want to find out if someone is a fanboy, ask their opinion of Logan Thackery.
If they have one, love or hate; they are a fanboy - and the degree is evidenced by the response.
If they don't really know who he is, or don't have a stance on what he did - they're just fans or critics of the game.
This is basically the divide between "really like this game" and "into this thing just a tad more than is really proper..."
Like comparing someone who really love watching a sport to the one who screams at people in a bar over a player being traded to another team. Or someone who watches Star Trek, versus someone who speaks Klingon... If you've ever argued which Doctor is better, on reasons other than acting skill - that's a fanboy (and if you don't know why Doctor is capitalized, you are clearly not).
I despise Logan Thackery with a passion. So... you can take what I say about all of this with whatever quantity of salt you desire.
So when I say this game is /win, maybe my opinion is colored.
But one can also say... if something can generate that level of passion; then its clearly succeeded on some level.

No. Reading your context ("I don't mind if it is a WoW killer or not") it is clear you meant COULD NOT care less. "I do care that it's not a WoW killer, but I could care less" - is simply not what the meaning of your paragraph meant. So stop trying to cover over it with this "I know what I meant to say BS".
What you might mean with your objection is that you meant "I could care less" in the same sense as it is used by thousands of your countrymen ie. the meaning is "I don't care at all about that".
IF YOU DON'T CARE AT ALL, THEN IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO CARE LESS.
How hard is this to understand?

This is an old debate and ultimately we all create our own English (the clue is in the name of the language though, chums) - but I find it bizarre how tenaciously English language users from the US cling to this illogical and downright ridiculous corruption of a perfectly sensible phrase. I could care less is ambiguously ugly and makes no sense. I couldn't care less is a typical understated put down with a sense of finality.
You do realize that this conversation took place in August and that stopping to necro it to point that out isn't likely to do much good. Thought you should know. lol
